War - "Justified" Humanity Lost
The case of Setsuko and Seita
Abstract
What are the boundaries of war? How far does it extend? This paper intends to reflect on those affected by war who can do nothing to change anything in it. Referencing the film "The Grave of the Fireflies", it seeks to establish the relationship between civilians and war, how they are affected, how they act, and how they might act; and actual true references are used to prove both the repetitive cycle of History as well as consideration of the film's timeliness, even seventy-seven years after the end of the war, and thirty-four years after the film was released.
